Free Motivational Interviewing Training

The Child Welfare Academy (CWA) is pleased to offer a free training opportunity on Motivational Interviewing (MI) on September 16-17, 2026. This will be an in-person, two-day experience running from 9 AM - 4 PM on both days at the SSW, 525 W. Redwood, room 2E02. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of Motivational Interviewing (MI) and its application in child welfare settings. Through an interactive, practice-focused training format, participants will build practical skills and strategies they can apply directly in their work. Eleven Category 1 CEUs will be awarded to participants who hold an active social work license.
This offering gives CWA training facilitators an opportunity to practice and refine the training’s content, flow, and activities before it is introduced at selected pilot sites across Maryland. Your active participation and thoughtful feedback will be invaluable in strengthening the training for future delivery.

To express your interest in participating, please complete the interest form by August 14, 2026: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QYKGFXN

Space is limited and participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register only if you are able to fully commit to attending both days of the training.
