Danielle Peterman, DNP, RN, CNE, associate teaching professor in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at Penn State University, and Suzanne Kuhn, PhD, CNE, CNEcl, teaching professor in the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing, are conducting a research study titled “Exploring the Experience of Languishing Among Nursing Faculty.”  They are inviting nursing faculty to participate in a confidential survey to share their experiences related to languishing and job satisfaction in their current role.

The purposes of this study are: to analyze relationships among burnout, depression, languishing, job satisfaction, and intent to leave their current role; to establish psychometric properties of the new Languishing in Nursing Scale; and to determine if demographic variables influence languishing.

Participation in this survey is voluntary. If you choose to participate, you may discontinue your participation at any time without penalty. The survey will take about 15 minutes of your time.

If you have any questions, please contact Peterman at dmf158@psu.edu or 814-931-1268 or Kuhn at skk6@psu.edu or 814-932-1156.

Thank you for considering participation in this critical study. Your insights will be invaluable in helping Peterman and Kuhn to understand the experience of languishing among nursing faculty and measures to provide better support to ultimately decrease turnover at a time where a faculty shortage persists.
