Speaker: Susan Kristiniak, DHA, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, AHN-BC, Chief Nursing Officer, Caregility

Attendees will examine current gaps in nursing and interprofessional care and explore how virtual care technologies support access, especially in rural settings. Participants will review practical workflows for integrating virtual care into acute and home environments, evaluate evidence-based outcomes such as improved access and efficiency, and gain insight into emerging approaches for incorporating virtual care education into both academic programs and ongoing professional practice.

Learning Objectives: 

  1. Describe the current state of the nursing workforce and other health care partner shortages.
  2. Review how virtual care technology has provided a strategy to support workforce shortages and rural health initiatives.
  3. Identify workflows in acute and home care settings that incorporate virtual care delivery.
  4. Review current outcomes resulting from the use of virtual care.
  5. Introduce virtual care education for nursing programs and in-place nurses.

About the Speaker:

Kristiniak is an experienced nursing leader with more than 40 years of practice experience spanning clinical care and executive roles. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing in Integrative Health, and a doctorate in health care administration and is certified as both an advanced holistic nurse and nurse executive. As chief nursing officer for Caregility, she leads the integration of virtual care solutions across health care settings and collaborates with nursing schools to advance virtual care education. She also serves as adjunct faculty at Drexel University and has developed and delivered educational programs in integrative nursing and pain management. An active researcher and speaker, she has presented nationally and internationally on virtual care and holistic nursing practices.

Continuing Nursing Professional Development

The University of Maryland School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

Nurses may receive 1.0 contact hour for attending this webinar in its entirety and completing the evaluation. Nurses will receive the certificate via email from the University of Maryland School of Nursing within two to four weeks after submitting the completed evaluation.
