Uplift Alliance, a fiscal sponsor organization and affiliate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, has hired its new executive director, Lea Ferguson, who will start Sept. 8.
Ferguson most recently served as chief of operations at the Baltimore Civic Fund, a fiscal sponsor that supports the financial management of public-private partnerships between innovative Baltimore City programs and the philanthropic community. At the Civic Fund, she led enterprise operations for an organization managing more than $20 million, with responsibility for finance, human resources, information technology, compliance, and administrative systems.
Before her time at the Civic Fund, Ferguson held leadership roles with the Mayor’s Office of Children and Family Success (MOCFS) and Thread. As chief of policy and partnerships with MOCFS, she oversaw strategic action planning and major initiatives, including the Mayor’s Guaranteed Income pilot.
At Thread, where she served as vice president of operations and recruitment, Ferguson led the volunteer recruitment, data, and operations for an organization serving young people facing opportunity gaps across Baltimore City.
