Leadership 101: Kicking Off ‘Leadership Is …’ Series
January 20, 2026
This semester, the Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement is inviting students to explore leadership as a practice, a process, and something you’re already doing more often than you think.
Leadership 101 is the kickoff to our "Leadership is …" series and offers a shared foundation for how we approach leadership. Together, we’ll explore questions like:
-
What is leadership, really?
-
Who gets to lead (spoiler: more people than you might think)?
-
How values, context, and relationships shape how leadership shows up
All Leadership 101 sessions cover the same content, so participants are encouraged to choose one session that fits their schedule rather than attending all three.
Whether you hold a formal leadership role or are simply curious about how leadership shows up in your academic, professional, or community life, this session is a great place to start. All sessions are virtual, and you can register through UMBengaged.
Sign up here for the session on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 4-5 p.m.
Sign up here for the session on Tuesday, Feb. 10 from 12-1 p.m.
Sign up here for the session on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
Open to all students. Come ready to reflect, question assumptions, and expand how you think about leadership.
By attending this session, you are earning co-curricular credit toward a digital badge offered at the end of the semester by the Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement.
