Fall 2026 Elective Option: NRSG 624: Data Visualization in Health Care
April 24, 2026
Join us in the Fall 2026 semester to learn how to transform health care data into clear, compelling visualizations that support data-driven decision-making, improve communication, and enhance patient outcomes.
Course: This is a 3-credit, fully online course with biweekly synchronous virtual class sessions. All graduate-level students (MSN, DNP, and PhD) may take this course as an elective. There are no prerequisites required.
What You Will Learn: Students will develop foundational and applied skills in health care data visualization, including how to prepare, clean, and organize data for analysis and presentation. The course introduces leading tools such as Tableau (with a primary focus), Power BI, and R, with hands-on experience building dashboards and visual displays using real-world datasets. Through case studies and collaborative lab sessions, students will explore how effective visualization supports nursing research, evidence-based practice, and population health initiatives. Emphasis is placed on “data storytelling,” visualization design principles, and translating complex data into meaningful insights for diverse stakeholders.
