Newly hired full-time faculty members at UMSON may be eligible for the New Nursing Faculty Fellowship (NNFF) awarded by the Maryland Higher Education Commission. Applicants must be working in a full-time teaching capacity and must have been offered employment after July 1, 2025 and have begun employment by the fall 2026 semester. Awards are made for a period of up to five years, at $10,000 per year or as funding permits, provided the recipient remains in good standing as a full-time faculty member.

All nominations must be submitted by the dean’s office. To confirm eligibility and review required information materials, potential nominees should promptly contact Deborah Prout at prout@umaryland.edu. All submittal materials will be due in the dean’s office no later than Wednesday, Aug. 26, to ensure compliance with the Aug. 31 submittal deadline.

Faculty members are not eligible if they have received this award at another institution or already have three or more years of full-time teaching experience. Those who received scholarship funding through the GNF or Cohen Scholars programs are also excluded.
