Virtual Face to Face with computer graphics

‘AI in Teaching and Learning’

Oct. 28 | 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Register for this episode of “Virtual Face to Face,” hosted by Roger J. Ward, EdD, JD, MSL, MPA, interim chief administrative and strategy officer, University System of Maryland.

In simpler times, of course, professional graduate education followed a fairly straightforward path: teach students a large body of knowledge, teach them how to apply that knowledge, then have them demonstrate they can use what they’ve learned independently. Now, artificial intelligence (AI) has disrupted many of the activities traditionally employed by teachers by doing the work for students, and doing it quickly and easily.

How do we effectively teach and encourage learning to most effectively prepare the next generation of professionals in the age of AI? Our faculty members help us sort out AI-native pedagogy and tools, writing and intellectual development with AI, and assignment/assessment redesign in this episode hosted by Roger Ward.

Guests:

  • Isabell C. May, PhD, associate professor and program director, Science Communication Certificate Program, School of Graduate Studies, and director, the UMB Writing Center
  • Scott J. Riley, PhD, instructor and MS internship coordinator, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy
  • Donald Tobin, JD, Gordon, Wolf & Carney Professor of Law, Francis King Carey School of Law
