PhD Candidate Yali Deng will defend her dissertation on Friday, April 10, at 2:00 PM. The dissertation study, Minority Stress, Community Connectedness and Suicidal Ideation: A Longitudinal Examination among Three Generations of Sexual Minority Adults,” investigates how minority stress factors—such as everyday discrimination, internalized homophobia, and community connectedness—relate to suicidal ideation among three generations of LGB+ adults in the United States, while also examining differences across age, sexual orientation, and race.

Yali’s dissertation committee is chaired by Dr. Jodi Frey and includes Dr. Paul Sacco, Dr. Jay Unick, Dr. Darren Whitfield, and Dr. John Blosnich.
