SHARP Framework Workshop Series: August 2026
This 12-session training series has been developed to support child and family systems with adopting anti-racist and anti-oppressive practices to prevent trauma exposure and repair the trauma effects in the lives of Black/African and Latin individuals and families.
Baltimore Racial Justice Action (BRJA) developed six sessions focused on deconstructing the human services sector by exploring the United States’ history of institutional racism and how it impacts all levels of society. This is intended to be an individual and group reflective process.
The SHARP team developed six sessions that are intended to help participants reconstruct their understanding of the human services sector by using the SHARP framework (Structural Oppression, Historical Context Analysis of Role, Reciprocity, and Power) as detailed in “SHARP: A Framework for Addressing the Contexts of Poverty” (Shaia, 2019). This framework is focused on mindset and practice shifts to improve how professionals serve their clients. These two series build on one another and are suggested to be experienced in succession.
20 Free Category 1 CEs that meet the anti-oppression requirements for licensed social workers; however, this training is open to all human service professionals.

All sessions will be hosted in person at the University of Maryland School of Social Work, Baltimore, 525 W. Redwood St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
