Open book with the words “UMB Reads! You never know what you’ll discover in a book”

UMB Reads! invites all members of the UMB community to join our virtual summer book discussion at noon June 23 of "The People Equation: Why Innovation Is People, Not Products" by Deborah Perry Piscione and David Crawley.

This first discussion will focus on the first half of the book through Chapter 4, “Risk-Taking Leadership.” Together, we’ll explore how innovation grows when people feel trusted, supported, and empowered to share ideas, take thoughtful risks, and learn through experimentation.

As part of our focus on UMB’s core value set of Innovation and Discovery, this conversation will offer space to reflect on how people-centered leadership, psychological safety, and collaboration can strengthen our work and community.

Whether you have read every page, are still making your way through the book, or simply want to join the conversation, all are welcome. Come ready to connect, reflect, and exchange ideas with colleagues across UMB.
