The 12th Baltimore Area Repair Symposium (BARS) 2026 will be co-hosted March 18 by the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Johns Hopkins University, and the National Institute on Aging, National Institutes of Health, at UMB's SMC Campus Center.

Over the past decade, BARS has become a premier regional forum highlighting cutting-edge research in DNA damage and repair, chromosome biology, cellular responses to cytotoxic stress, and the mechanistic foundations of cancer development and therapeutic response. The symposium brings together investigators, trainees, and clinicians from across the Baltimore-Washington research community to foster collaboration, showcase emerging discoveries, and strengthen our collective impact in genome stability and cancer biology.

Alan D. D’Andrea, MD, director of the Center for DNA Damage and Repair at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, will deliver the keynote address.
