The Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) invites UMB faculty, staff, and students to submit workshop proposals for the 2026-2027 President’s Student Leadership Institute (PSLI). Access the form to submit your proposal

The President’s Student Leadership Institute (PSLI) is a co-curricular micro-credential program designed for UMB students across all schools and disciplines. Through hands-on workshops, experiential learning, and reflection, PSLI invites students, on campus and online, to explore timely leadership and professional development topics in an interprofessional environment.

We are seeking engaging, interactive workshops that support undergraduate, graduate, and professional students’ development in areas including, but not limited to:

  • Leadership development
  • Communication and public speaking
  • Team dynamics and collaboration
  • UMB’s core values
  • Interprofessional practice and leadership
  • Emotional intelligence and self-awareness
  • Conflict navigation, difficult conversations, and deliberative dialogue
  • Civic engagement and community leadership
  • Inclusive leadership and belonging
  • Networking and relationship-building
  • Career readiness and professional development
  • Résumé, CV, and cover letter development
  • Interviewing, networking, and personal branding skills
  • Navigating career pathways and professional identity development
  • Wellness, resilience, and sustainable leadership
  • Design thinking, innovation, and change leadership

Workshop facilitators must be current UMB faculty, staff, or students. While facilitators will not receive compensation, participation offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of student leaders across the University and to share expertise with an interprofessional student audience. Facilitators will be eligible for a certificate of recognition acknowledging their contribution to the program.

To create flexibility for facilitators and student participants, workshops may be offered in a variety of formats, including:

  • In-person workshops
  • Virtual workshops
  • Short-form 20-minute sessions
  • 45-minute workshops
  • 60-minute workshops
  • 90-minute extended learning sessions

Sessions should:

  • Be interactive and discussion-based
  • Include opportunities for reflection or skill practice
  • Be accessible to students from multiple disciplines, experience levels, learning styles, and Title II compliant
  • Offer practical tools, strategies, or perspectives students can apply in leadership, academic, clinical, or professional settings
  • Include clearly defined learning outcomes and identify how student learning and engagement will be assessed during or following the session.

Facilitators whose proposals are selected will work collaboratively with the Office of Student Success, Leadership, and Engagement to finalize scheduling and workshop logistics throughout the academic year.

We especially encourage proposals that:

  • Foster interprofessional learning and collaboration
  • Connect leadership to real-world practice and community impact
  • Create opportunities for students to build practical skills they can apply immediately
