The UM Ventures, Baltimore (UMVB) Innovation Challenge supports the early-stage development of promising technologies. The challenge is open to all UMB faculty across all disciplines within the life sciences, including therapeutics, devices, diagnostics, software, digital health, and related enabling technologies.
The UMVB Innovation Challenge will provide up to $100,000 in support for selected project(s) with a performance period of 12-18 months. Proposals should describe a clear technology development plan with well-defined milestones and a path toward advancement. While all technology concepts are welcome, special consideration will be given to proposals that address unmet medical needs and that are positioned to enable, empower, or accelerate the development of a product or service with translational potential.
The UMVB Innovation Challenge application window will open Sept. 1, 2026, and close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2026.
