We are looking for healthy volunteers to participate in our fMRI brain study.
You may be eligible if you are:
- Healthy
- 18 years and older
- No history of vascular diseases (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes)
- Not claustrophobic
Study Overview:
- Session 1: Quick MRI scan (about six minutes); no tasks involved
- Sessions 2, 3, 4, and 5: Breathing tasks (about 6 minutes each) inside the scanner
- You’ll breathe a safe, controlled mix of CO₂ and O₂ through a mouthpiece.
- A nose clip will prevent nasal breathing.
- Short breaks will be provided between sessions (wearing the mouthpiece and nose clip is required during the task).
Compensation: All participants will receive $50 for their time and effort.
This study is approved by the University of Maryland Institutional Review Board.
