The UMB ICTR/CTSA TL1 Program is a collaborative effort among the seven UMB schools (School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Pharmacy, School of Dentistry, School of Social Work, School of Law, and the Graduate School). Funding for this Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service (NRSA) training appointment is provided by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA), joint partnership between University of Maryland, Baltimore and Johns Hopkins University. 

The mission of the TL1 Program is to select candidates who, with proper career development and clinical translational research training, have potential to become independently funded, successful, and ethical clinical investigators.

The duration of the TL1 Predoctoral Program is one year. The duration of the TL1 Postdoctoral Program is two years.
