Martin Luther King Jr.

The deadline has been extended to Friday, Dec. 4 for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Recognition Awards, which honor individual or group achievement in the areas of diversity and inclusiveness. The awards represent equality, justice, and opportunity for all people. The recipients serve as models for the entire University for their personal and professional commitment to the ideals epitomized by the life and work of Dr. King.

Individuals or groups will be recognized in the following three categories:

  • Outstanding UMB faculty or unit
  • Outstanding UMB staff or unit
  • Outstanding UMB student or student group

In addition to the underlying principles outlined above, the Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) will use criteria such as effectiveness, impact, uniqueness, and longevity when evaluating nominations.

A description of how the project, program, or initiative is an extension of the individual’s or group’s routine roles and responsibilities also is appreciated. Nominators are encouraged to address as many of the criteria as appropriate. Self-nominations are acceptable.

The online nomination form must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 4, 2020.
