Dr. Gerard Slobogean Announced as 2020 Recipient of Orthopaedic Trauma Association’s Edwin G. Bovill, Jr. MD Award
February 02, 2021Congratulations to Dr. Gerard Slobogean, associate professor of orthopaedics and assistant director of clinical research, Department of Orthopaedics, University of Maryland School of Medicine, for receiving the 2020 Orthopaedic Trauma Association's (OTA) Edwin G. Bovill, Jr. MD Award, which is presented annually to the author of the most outstanding OTA Annual Meeting scientific paper.
Slobogean was named the 2020 Bovill Award winner based on his scientific paper, “Vitamin D3 Supplementation Does Not Improve Fracture Healing: A Double-Blinded Randomized Trial."
Additionally, Slobogean was also awarded a 2020 Top 10 highlight paper by the OTA for "One-Year Results of a Prospective Randomized Controlled Trial of Operative Versus Nonoperative Fixation of Minimally Displaced Lateral Compression Pelvis Fractures: Secondary Analysis of Previously Reported Short-Term Results."
