Jan. 22: Faith, Science, and Trust: African American Clergy & Community Conversation on COVID-19 with Dr. Anthony Fauci
January 13, 2021Friday, Jan. 22
2 p.m.
The University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM), in partnership with Sisters Together and Reaching, Inc., and the University of Maryland, College Park School of Public Health’s Center for Health Equity, is excited to host a community conversation featuring Anthony Fauci, MD — “America’s Doctor” — as well as Baltimore faith-based leaders and COVID-19 vaccine research volunteers from the Baltimore/Washington, D.C., area.
This event will feature an open discussion about COVID-19 vaccine research, so we can give members of our communities the opportunity talk about their concerns related to medical research, past and present mistakes, and how we can build trust. The discussion will feature honest dialogue and include individuals who can talk about their experiences as volunteers in vaccine research.
Other topics of this frank discussion will include current COVID-19 vaccine research, the impact this terrible virus has had on certain populations, and the critical need to include members from the Black and Brown community as partners in COVID-19 research.
The event will be hosted via Zoom and be available on the Facebook Live account of the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
