Click https://youtu.be/NM71B20kT3k to launch this most recent 90-minute program that features Baltimore Sun reporter Tatyana Turner moderating a discussion among L. Latéy Bradford, MD, PhD, chief resident of family medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center; Stacey Stephens, LCSW-C, director of B’more for Healthy Babies, Promise Heights; and Stephanie Etienne, CNM, a Baltimore-based certified nurse midwife.
The conversation opened with a welcome by Bronwyn Mayden, MSW, founder and executive director of Promise Heights, and included a message from Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, representing the 14th District of Illinois.
Underwood is the first woman, the first person of color, and first millennial to represent her community in Congress, and is also the youngest Black woman to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. She is a co-founder with Congresswoman Alma Adams of The Black Maternal Health Caucus, charged to improve Black maternal health outcomes, raise awareness within Congress, and advocate for effective, evidence-based, culturally component policies, best practices, and health outcomes for Black mothers.
Each of the four winter/spring 2021 ”From the Heights” discussions hosted by Promise Heights examines the challenges of the moment, offering actionable insights that you can use today. They involve authors, medical professionals, legislators, and thought leaders, and are designed to inform and engage participants regarding current issues that impact children and families.
Promise Heights consistently aims to give strategies and ideas that will prompt hope, add fuel to the push for equity, and create circumstances for transformation across health and education fields.
