MARC Train

As of Aug. 30, 2021, Penn Line Train 536 departs Washington's Union Station at 5:13 p.m. and makes only one stop (BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Rail Station), arriving at Baltimore Penn Station at 5:54 p.m. This very-limited-stop service provides a 41-minute travel time from downtown-to-downtown.

The one-way fare between Union Station and Penn Station is $8 — there is no surcharge or added cost to ride this train. Tickets may be purchased through the MDOT MTA CharmPass app or at MARC ticket vending machines located near the boarding areas at both stations. The ticket vending machines accept cash and all major credit cards, as well as Google and Apple Pay.

It should also be noted that full-size, non-collapsible bicycles are now permitted on all MARC trains — again there is no surcharge for this service. For full information about bringing bikes on MARC, visit the Bikes on MTA website, www.mta.maryland.gov/bike.
