Geriatric Assessment Interdisciplinary Team (GAIT) training workshops emphasize the value of an interdisciplinary team approach to the assessment and treatment of older adults. Students participate in one- or two-day workshops at selected facilities on the Eastern Shore.

GAIT is funded by grants through UMB’s Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research (GGEAR) program. Training materials, hotel accommodations, and meals are provided at no cost. Travel stipends also are provided.

The April 9 GAIT training at Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge, Md., still has plenty of room for additional students from all disciplines. The focus is dementia.
