Watch the Recording of the 'From the Heights' Juneteenth Event 'Pipeline: An Essential Conversation'
June 23, 2021Each year, 150,000 Black and Brown children — disproportionally those with disabilities — are handcuffed, restrained, referred to law enforcement, and arrested in our nation’s schools.
On June 19, in partnership with Everyman Theatre, Promise Heights hosted a 90-minute Juneteenth virtual event. "Pipeline: An Essential Conversation" featured community partners reflecting on how Baltimore is affected by these acts of inequality and racism experienced by our children, and what is being done to change that reality.
The winter/spring 2021 "From the Heights" virtual conversations began against the backdrop of COVID-19, racial unrest, and actions striving for justice and healing — and since then, nothing has been “normal.”
This season's final conversation examined many challenges of this moment, and offered actionable insights to use today.
You can listen to the free Juneteenth conversation here, and also click here to hear the WYPR-88.1FM/On the Record conversation with Sheilah Kast in advance of the event that aired Wednesday, June 16.
