Christmas store shopper

The UMB Staff Senate’s Community Outreach Committee thanks all those who contributed to our School Supplies, Thanksgiving, and Holiday drives over the past few months.

These donations made a difference in the lives of our West Baltimore neighbors’ families and children.

Because of the donations:

  • Students at James McHenry Elementary/Middle School have access to 142 earbuds for their computer schoolwork.
  • The youth at Vivien T. Thomas Medical Arts Academy proudly wear their school uniforms thanks to 50 sets of medical scrubs that were purchased for this school year.
  • UMB’s CURE Scholars received much-needed school supplies for the new school year.
  • More than 130 CURE, Police Athletic/Activities League, and Makers Program families were given a box full of non-perishable food items including mashed potatoes, green beans, and cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving dinner.
  • The Christmas Store was filled with board games, dolls, footballs, and Legos donated from the Target store wish list and from funds to purchase toys. The Christmas Store took place Dec.10-11 at the UMB Community Engagement Center and served families in West Baltimore. (Read more about it and watch a video here.)
