May 26, 2020Please join the Maryland Nursing Workforce Center and the Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders (MONL)/the Maryland Nurse Residency Collaborative (MNRC) for the second Statewide Summit meeting for an update on graduate nurses and NCLEX and a panel discussion about ways academia and hospitals can partner to return nursing students to clinical rotations safely.
Summit to Discuss Return of Nursing Students to Clinical Rotations

11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Karen Evans, ED MBON, will start the meeting with an update on what is happening with NCLEX testing, background checks, and whether the waiver for simulations is extended into the fall. We will then open it to questions. If you know of a question(s) now, please email it to jiwarren@verizon.net.
Following Karen Evans, we will have nursing leaders from the hospital and academia discuss ways to help students return to clinical rotations safely. Hospital representatives include Dr. Lisa Rowen, System, Chief Nurse Executive, University of Maryland Medical System, and Sr. VP of Patient Care Services & Chief Nursing Officer, UMMC and Kim Bushnell, President, MONL, Inc and CNO, Northwest Hospital. Academic representatives include Dr. Hayley Mark, Professor, and Chair Towson University, and Dr. Mary Kay DeMarco, past-President MNA, and Nursing Program Director at Community College of Baltimore County. Each panelist will have 5 minutes to share their thoughts on this topic, including barriers and facilitators/possible solutions. We will then open it to questions and discussion.
