Chief Leone and Lt. Johnson having water dumped on them. Text reads,

The University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD) is once again participating in the Polar Bear Plunge benefiting Special Olympics Maryland. This year, Chief Thomas Leone and Lt. Matthew Johnson are Super Plunging — that means 24 plunges into the icy Chesapeake Bay in 24 hours!

The Super Plunge will take place Friday, Jan. 28 to Saturday, Jan. 29. Chief Leone and Lieutenant Johnson need your support. Here’s how:

  • Join the UMBPD: We’ll have tents, food, and fun. Whether you decide to plunge or just to watch, we hope you will come along.
  • Donate: All Super Plungers need to raise $10,000 before the Plunge. Whether you support Chief Leone or Lieutenant Johnson, all donations go to a great cause — Special Olympics Maryland. Any size donation is appreciated. Donate here: umaryland.edu/police/community-outreach/polar-bear-plunge
  • Share: Help us spread the word! Ask your colleagues, family, and friends to donate. Learn more: umaryland.edu/police/community-outreach/polar-bear-plunge

On behalf of the UMBPD, we want to thank you, as always, for your support.

Students, faculty, and staff, let your voice be heard!
