Being a member of the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) community gives you the opportunity to experience our historic and vibrantly storied city, but the city and its surrounding neighborhoods also present all the challenges of a complex, modern, and urban society.

As is spelled out in the 2021 Clery Campus Security and Fire Report, UMB takes measures to ensure a safe campus environment, but it is important to keep in mind that a level of responsibility for crime prevention and personal safety also rests with each individual.

UMB is committed to transparency and accountability and encourages you to take the time to read the report, which includes specific campus crime and arrest statistics. It also contains campus policies and practices intended to promote crime awareness, campus safety, and security, such as what to do in an emergency. Optional training on what the Clery Report is and what it communicates is available through the UMB Learning Management System or upon request through the Office of Accountability and Compliance.

The new report and an at-a-glance summary are posted online here. A hard copy is available in the Pine Street Police Station at 214 N. Pine St.
