People walking on campus

Did you know that despite the pandemic, you are permitted to have visitors on the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) campus under some circumstances? The UMB Visitors Guidance helps you determine if you can bring a visitor on campus and what steps you need to take beforehand.

UMB has updated the Visitors Guidance with changes that take effect June 1. Changes include removing testing and training as health and safety requirements for a visitor. You also must now notify the COVID-19 Recovery Task Force at COVID-RECOVERY@umaryland.edu.recovery when 25 visitors or more will attend an event at one time; previously, the number had been 10 or more.

In addition, UMB has a Visitors COVID-19 Acknowledgment Form, which requires visitors to acknowledge UMB’s COVID-19 policies such as its face covering policy. However, UMB will soon begin implementing a visitor management system (VMS) in UMB-occupied buildings that is intended to replace the Acknowledgment Form.

Because the VMS is being piloted at only certain buildings this summer, some buildings will still require the use of the form until the VMS is completely integrated.

The VMS is designed to track visitors entering a UMB-occupied building and monitor building capacity using state-of-the-art visitor kiosks at the main entrances near the security guard desks.
