Interested in global communication? Want to work with University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) writers on their academic work and advocate with them for inclusive writing practices across and within languages and cultures?

The UMB Writing Center is looking for graduate students to serve as writing consultants for the fall 2021/spring 2022 semesters. The UMB Writing Center serves students enrolled in UMB’s seven schools as well as post-docs, faculty, and staff.

Our writing consultations are usually about one hour. Many of them are face-to-face, but we also offer online sessions, using video/audio, as well as written or recorded feedback to writers. Most of our clients ask for feedback on their course assignments, but we also have a good number of appointments that focus on CVs, cover letters, publications, and grants.

UMB writing consultants get paid $17 per hour and can work between three to 15 hours a week, depending on scheduling needs and other consultants’ availability. If interested in applying for this position and to access the full job description, please go to Student Employment section on our website.

For additional questions, please contact James Wright, associate director of the Writing Center, at james.wright@umaryland.edu.
