Fall Kick-Off Icon

Join UMB Student Affairs for a series of social events and workshops to celebrate the fall semester.


Calling all University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) students! Celebrate the fall semester with two weeks of meeting new friends, eating great local food, having inclusive conversations, creating new memories, and discovering and rediscovering what it means to call UMB home.

All events are free for currently enrolled UMB students. Registration is preferred. 

Featured Fall Kick-Off Events

Thursday, Sept. 8: Find Your UMBFF at our “speed friending” event. This is a fun and fast-paced way to meet and connect with future friends across all UMB schools and programs. Free dinner is provided for all student participants! This event is co-sponsored by UMB Housing and the University Student Government Association (USGA).

Monday, Sept. 12: Mix and mingle with University leadership and students from across UMB, while sampling iconic Baltimore dishes, snacks, and drinks from local restaurants at our first Taste of Baltimore with UMB Leadership. This event is co-sponsored by the Community Engagement Center and the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.  

Wednesday, Sept. 14: Join us for an afternoon with The Grid and learn how their workshops and programs help aspiring entrepreneurs meet their business goals. After, we will walk to Lexington Market to learn how their newly transformed space and spirit of entrepreneurship supports community, culture, health, and wealth-building in Baltimore. Free snacks are available for all student participants! This event is co-sponsored by The Grid. 

Friday, Sept. 16: Our annual Campus Involvement Fair is one of the biggest events on campus and a great way to learn about all the on-campus resources available to students and the vendors that are local to West Baltimore!

But wait, there’s more! 

This year we have over 15 events to help students meet new friends, engage in thoughtful dialogues, find their place in the campus community, and get to know the services available to them. From large events to small gatherings, there's something for everyone.
