In this digital issue, you’ll learn about the University’s Commitment to Maryland.

We are excited to release the Spring 2022 issue of the University of Maryland, Baltimore's (UMB) CATALYST magazine. In this digital issue, you’ll learn about the University’s Commitment to Maryland, including the incredible work done by School of Medicine scientists and clinicians who successfully transplanted a genetically modified pig heart in a patient who survived for two months.

We also share stories about our students in two-year programs who’ve overcome obstacles from the pandemic to graduate this month as well as introduce you to Gregory F. Ball, the new vice president for research. Also highlighted are the work of Wendy Shaia, executive director of the School of Social Work’s Social Work Community Outreach Service, the UMB CURE Scholars Program’s first cohort going to college, the 50th anniversary of the School of Pharmacy’s Maryland Poison Center, and much, much more!
