Teamwork was the central theme in this year’s week of appreciation for the essential employees of Environmental Services.

The second full week of September is celebrated each year as International Housekeepers and Environmental Services Week across the nation. This year, the University of Maryland, Baltimore's (UMB) Department of Environmental Services (EVS) celebrated from Monday, Sept. 11, to Friday, Sept. 15, with a series of events and activities for the more than 200 employees who provide essential services to keep the UMB campus clean and safe each day. "Teamwork" was a central theme of this year's celebration and factored into the events and activities throughout the week. Highlights of the week included a motivational keynote speaker, door decoration crafting, service awards, a bottle cap-collecting contest, and a block party.
