A vendor shows off her items to a shopper

Shoppers and vendors alike enjoy the festive annual event at the SMC Campus Center.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) 2023 Holiday Craft Fair attracted a big crowd to the SMC Campus Center on Dec. 6, with shoppers milling about the Elm Ballrooms looking for gifts or treats and soaking up the festive atmosphere.

The 15th annual Holiday Craft Fair featured more than 50 vendors and was held on a Wednesday for the first time. Shoppers could choose from a wide variety of homemade and handmade items, including ornaments and wreaths; jewelry and ready-to-wear crocheted or knitted items; sweaters, cardigans, T-shirts, and sweatshirts; olive oil and balsamic vinegar; treats for humans and dogs; and much more.

“The Holiday Craft Fair is one of my favorite days at UMB,” said Nancy Gordon, executive director of protocol and special events, Office of External Relations, who conceived the event 15 years ago and organized it this year along with Alice Powell, director of University events. “It’s always a happy event, and it’s great to see everyone shopping and in a festive mood. And each year our vendors tell me how much they enjoy their interactions with our shoppers.”
