Nominations are due July 18 for the James F. Cawley Award for Excellence in the PA Profession.


The Physician Assistant Leadership and Learning Academy (PALLA) invites you to submit nominations for the James F. Cawley Award for Excellence in the PA Profession. Named in honor of Professor James F. Cawley, MPH, PA-C — a nationally recognized leader whose scholarship and service have shaped the profession — this award celebrates outstanding Maryland PA professionals making a lasting difference.

Presented annually at the Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants (MdAPA) CME Conference during the PALLA Alumni and Student Social, the award honors a graduate of a Maryland PA program who is an active MdAPA member and has demonstrated excellence in at least two of the following areas:

  • Leadership, service, and advocacy on behalf of the PA profession 
  • Impactful and sustained contributions to research and scholarship 
  • Excellence in PA education and health policy 
  • Outstanding clinical service to the community 
  • Mentorship and development of future PA leaders and scholars

Submit your nomination by July 18.

Include a nomination letter, the nominee’s CV, and up to two letters of support.
