For the past several years, the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) have joined forces to host the UMMC and UMB Innovation Challenge, a dynamic funding platform designed to unlock the creativity and expertise of those who serve our community every day.
This challenge invites you to reimagine health care, leveraging UMMC as a proving ground for transformative solutions that can improve lives and shape the future of health care. You can explore some of the remarkable projects from prior years.
Bert W. O’Malley, MD, president and CEO of UMMC, and Bruce E. Jarrell, MD, FACS, president of UMB, are excited to announce the launch of the fifth annual Innovation Challenge, an opportunity to bring your ideas to life. In alignment with our shared value of discovery, we welcome proposals for innovative practices and solutions that will improve health outcomes and experiences for patients, families, and care teams on our Downtown and Midtown campuses.
This year’s Challenge includes new opportunities for funding, with four distinct categories of awards:
- Two awards of up to $40,000 each
- Two awards of up to $100,000 each
- One award of up to $100,000 for Drug Resistance
- One award of up to $100,000 for Drug Delivery
If you’re interested in applying, you may begin submitting proposals starting Monday, July 28. The Intent to Apply deadline is Monday, Sept. 8, and full applications are due by Friday, Oct. 10.
