Leaders, partners, and advocates gathered in November at the Maryland Zoo Mansion House for the Family League of Baltimore’s 34th annual meeting, a celebration aptly themed “Impact at Scale.” Among the evening’s highlights was the recognition of Stacey Stephens, MSW, LCSW-C, associate professor and director of B’more for Healthy Babies (BHB) at the Center for Restorative Change, University of Maryland School of Social Work.

The event showcased the collective commitment to Baltimore’s families, underscored by remarkable milestones — over $21.6 million in new investments across 84 community organizations, benefiting more than 14,000 children, youth, and adults. Notably, the B’more for Healthy Babies program achieved a 92 percent breastfeeding initiation rate, far exceeding state benchmarks, and the Family League expanded housing support investments by over $6 million while earning national recognition for youth development and financial stewardship.

Stephens, recipient of the Innovation Award, was honored for her creative, forward-thinking leadership in maternal and child health. Through her stewardship, BHB has set new best practices, lifted family outcomes, and inspired cross-system collaboration, making her a driving force for health equity and positive change in Baltimore. The Innovation Award reflects her ability to turn vision into purposeful results, opening new paths for healthier futures.

The evening also featured powerful remarks from President and CEO Demaune Millard, President’s Award honoree Baltimore City Solicitor Ebony Thompson, and keynote speaker Rep. Kweisi Mfume, each reaffirming the value of strong partnerships and innovative leadership in strengthening the social fabric of our city.

Congratulations to Stephens and all community heroes recognized for advancing a healthier, more just Baltimore through their dedication and innovation.
