Participants at the event hosted by the Student Success Center and the UMB Student Pantry received corn-based ingredients and foods to take home.
Over 30 students attended Corn Across Borders, an event hosted by the Student Success Center and the UMB Student Pantry. The event invited attendees to explore the cultural and historical significance across American of corn, an ingredient that has nourished civilizations for over 9,000 years.
Students learned fun facts about corn, including that over 60 varieties are grown in Mexico alone, each with its own color, flavor, and story. Participants also received corn-based ingredients and foods to take home, connecting the learning experience with the comfort of shared nourishment.
By working together, the Student Success Center and UMB Student Pantry didn’t just put on a fun event — they also brought students together, celebrated culture, and showed how even something as simple as corn can connect us across borders.
