In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Student Success Center partnered with Make Studio to present an engaging art exhibit at the SMC Campus Center in the Fireplace Lounge on the first floor.

Make Studio is a Baltimore organization that supports artists with disabilities by providing professional studio space, exhibitions, and opportunities to grow as working artists. Its mission is simple: to make art a space for everyone to create and share their stories.

The monthlong exhibit features colorful, expressive works that explore creativity, work, and personal expression. During the opening Oct. 8, students had the chance to meet and talk with visiting artists Iragi Nkere and Julian Hinmon from Make Studio. The conversation flowed naturally as they discussed shared interests in art, cartooning, and drawing.

A highlight of the afternoon was an impromptu musical performance by Nkere that brought smiles and applause from everyone in the room. The event created a warm and inspiring atmosphere where students and artists connected through creativity and conversation.

Visitors can explore the exhibit throughout October in the Fireplace Lounge and experience the work of these talented artists from across Baltimore.
