Through a collaboration with UMB’s Office of Community and Civic Engagement and Led Ladies, attendees connect through the Economic Empowerment and Mental Wellness series.

The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Workforce Initiatives, through its collaboration with Led Ladies, has launched the Oil Collective Series: Economic Empowerment and Mental Wellness, a new program designed to help attendees strengthen their financial knowledge, explore entrepreneurship, and connect with peers in a supportive learning environment. UMB Workforce Initiatives is an arm of the UMB Office of Community and Civic Engagement.

The first session, held at the UMB Community Engagement Center, welcomed 15 attendees who gathered to discuss financial wellness, personal goals, and strategies for overcoming common challenges. The series was developed by Led Ladies, a nonprofit that works to empower young women in Baltimore, in partnership with community members that the nonprofit had worked with in the past who expressed interest in practical financial education and opportunities for entrepreneurship.

Through interactive discussions and workshops, participants gain tools to better manage personal finances, develop business ideas, and build supportive networks. While the series focuses on issues often experienced by women, all are welcome to attend.

Upcoming sessions will explore topics including budgeting, earning income, mental wellness, work-life balance, self-care, and celebrating personal achievements. The program demonstrates how UMB and community partners can work together to promote economic stability and individual well-being.

Attendees may still register for upcoming sessions in the series. Sessions are held at the UMB Community Engagement Center.
