Fund for Change Supports SWCOS’ Neighborhood Fellows Initiatives
June 19, 2019 CommunicationsBaltimore’s Fund for Change will help provide general operating support to the Social Work Community Outreach Service.
Baltimore's Fund for Change will help provide $25,000 in general operating support to the School of Social Work’s Social Work Community Outreach Service (SWCOS), prioritizing support for SWCOS’ Neighborhood Fellows Community Organizing initiatives that organize underserved individuals and communities and influence policymakers by advocating for social change.
The two priority areas that will be most impacted by SWCOS’ work to revitalize neighborhoods and engage constituencies in demanding needed change are:
- Engaging families in participating in the improvement of their schools and building partnerships with external community resources
- The overall empowerment of residents to make changes needed in their neighborhoods, such as participating in larger policy actions that result in affordable housing (including access to existing housing).
