Join us Wednesday, Sept. 29 from noon to 1 p.m. as the President’s Symposium invites Diane Forbes Berthoud, PhD, MA, the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) inaugural chief equity, diversity, and inclusion officer and vice president, to start this year's symposium series exploring UMB's strategic priorities for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Forbes Berthoud comes to UMB with extensive experience leading higher education institutions to improve diversity, equity, and inclusion for students, staff, and faculty. While at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), Forbes Berthoud led the institution by managing UCSD’s first Strategic Plan for Inclusive Excellence.

Forbes Berthoud earned her PhD and MA degrees in organizational communication and social psychology from Howard University, and a BA in communication and a certificate in Spanish translation and interpretation from Barry University. She holds a management certificate from the University of California, a certificate in mediation from the National Center for Conflict Resolution, and is a graduate of the UC-Coro System-wide Leadership Program.
