Recognizing the work of the 2019-2020 USGA before its final meeting in May.

On May 13, the University Student Government Association (USGA) will convene virtually for its final meeting of the academic year. For graduating students, it will be the last meeting of their academic career.

USGA is composed of 64 students across all schools and programs. From fall 2019 to dpring 2020, USGA represented the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s student population by: meeting with University leadership to discuss concerns and solutions to student issues; serving on the University System of Maryland Student Council and the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s Student Advisory Council; and acting as a unified student voice at campuswide events, such as the SMC Campus Center’s 10-year anniversary, where Nivedita Hegdekar, a Graduate School student and USGA president, provided introductory remarks before the reading of the campus’ first land acknowledgement.

The USGA also brought together UMB’s diverse student body for social events, including the annual Welcome Back Social and Fall Formal. Additionally, it provided funding for other campuswide organizations such as the Chinese Students and Scholars Association, International Student Organization, the Indian Association, and United Students of African Descent.

The Division of Student Affairs/Campus Life Services would like to thank the USGA executive board and senators for their hard work and contributions to making UMB a better place for students prior to and during this challenging time. To the graduating members, we are excited to see how your leadership skills were honed during your time in USGA to transform our local and global communities. We are proud of each of you. The current executive board is listed below:
